Extract from letter to McLean from H. F. Way. Maketu, 12th. Nov./70. My dear McLean, I send you my diary for the months of September and October. The Native Contingent are at Fort Galatea. I hear that a lot of King Natives have come, within a short distance of Tauranga, but I do not know how true it is. The Telegraph poles are nearly all laid on the ground and the wire will certainly be at work before Xmas.
