Savage Club at Trentham The Y.M.C.A. theatre at Trentham Mobilisation Camp was packed to the doors last week, and a large audience showed its appreciation of the excellent concert arranged by the members of the Wellington Savage Club. Mr. 0. N. Gillespie introduced each performer, and between items kept the aduience amused by his subtle stories. Savage Frank Thomas opened the programme with a song, the second item being a monologue by Savage Taylor. In the glee numbers the Savages acquitted themselves well, their song “Waltzing Matilda,” being enthusiastically encored. A one-act play, “The Body on the Line,” was also well received. Savage Ron Watson, leader of the Glee Club, who sang, was also encored. Savage Ted Allan mystified all by his clever card tricks, and in response to an encore demonstrated a rope tangle.
