4. Appreciation Of Behaviour A. AND P. ASSOCIATION'S LETTER Sincere appreciation of the manner hi which the officers and men of the Maori Battalion have behaved during their occupation of the showgrounds was expressed by the Manawatu V\ est Coast A and P. Association in a letter forwarded to Lieutenant-Colonel G. Dittmer, office: commanding the battalion. Copies arc also to be sent to the Minister of Defence and the Chief of the General Staff. Major General J. E. Duigan. •‘The men have given no trouble to our association whatever,” says the letter “They have always endeavoured to protect our property, and they have been courteous and polite to our officers We are not in any way exaggerating ' when we say they have behaved like gentlemen both off and on our grounds Heartiest good wishes will go with the battalion on its mission overseas.”
