St. Matthew's, Hastings. Vicar: Rev. R. T. Hall. Assistant Curate : Rev. 0. Gibson. In May the lecture to the G-.F.S. was given by the Rev. F. Bennett, who impressed upon the members the great duty of Service. The Rev. C. McDouall paid a very successful visit to the parish m the last week of May. His sermon on the Sunday evening- and address on the Tuesday were greatly appreciated, and should help the work ;in China considerably by the increased interest aroused; The Gleaners' Union met as usual on May 25th. Mrs Jones, 211 Charles street, "is now secretary. '■■ Mrs Ruddock was kind enough to address the Mothers' Union on June 6th. Her visits are always welcome. A meeting of the local branches of the C.E.M.S. was held on June 9th, when a general discussion on the work of the branches took -place, folloAving the reception of a report of the conference held at Auckland. It
was decided to arrange for- a visit of the Rev. H. G. Blackburne, Vicar of Palmerston North, and vice-president of the Men's Society 'm New Zealand.
