St. Matthew's, Hastings.

Vicar: Eev. R. T. Hall. Assistant Curate: Rev. 0. Gibson. The C.E.M.S. had meetings on June 22nd and on July. 13th. At the former meeting a Bible Study was com- • menced by the Vicar on the Epistle to the Ephesians. At the latter an address entitled "The World's Chal- 1 lenge to the Church" was given by Bro. Crompton-Sinith, of Havelock. An Adult Study Circle lias been started by the men and meets on Sunday afternoons at 3.30. On June 30th the Gleaners' Union met, a paper on China was read, and preparations were made for a missionary study circle. The Mothers' Union monthly meeting was held' on sth July, when an address on "Child Welfare" was given by the Deaconess. We had our annual parish meeting ' on the 6th July, and the attendance was most encouraging, some 200 to 250 parishioners being present. Con-, siderable interest was shown, a deficit of £62 on the year's working being more than made up during the evening. Mr E. H. Williams was appointed Vicar's warden, and Mr George Ebbett people's warden. The G.F.S. are" meeting as usual every Thursday. The usual monthly address was given m July by the Rev. O. Gibson, the subject being " Gambling, or a Plea for True Sport." A successful "Cake and Apron" Fair was held on July 13th, during the afternoon, ab.out £25 being raised m aid of the Hostel Fund. The Sunday school teachers held a social m July, w.hich was m the nature of a farewell to Mr Bert Corbin, who has now left for England to undergo training for Holy Orders. A presentation was made to Mr Corbin, and he was assured of the hearty good wishes and prayers of the teachers for his future m the great work he is undertaking.
