Vicar: Eev. J. Pigott. Si Mary's, Tokomaru Bay.— On Sunday, June 26th, the Rev. E. M. Eruini conducted farewell services m
St. Mary's Church. The 8 a.m. Holy Communion was m English, the 11 a.m. a Maori service, Mattins and Holy Communion.; The Church was packed to overflowings with Maoris both at tis service and at the one at 3 p.m.; the people were filled with grief. In the evening 1 he conducted an English service, when again the church was full> this time mostly with pakehas. After the .service M.iss Davis invited any of the congregation who cared to stay to go to the Mission House. Refreshments were handed round and then Mr Oates, m the absence of the Vicar arid on behalf of the Church Committee and congregation^ presented Mr Eruini with a cheque as a little recognition of the esteem m which he was held by all. Numerous, appreciative speeches were made and then a sacred solo was sung by a returned Maori soldier. The evening was brought to a close . by the singing of "God Be With You Till We Meet Again." .Mr Eruini goes to Whakatane and Ruatoki parishes. — We are sorry to lose Miss Harris from the Sunday school staff. She did splendid work for nearly two years but has now returned to her" home m the south. Before leaving she was presented by the teachers. and scholars with a Prayer Book and an autograph book. Miss Burdett, a former scholar, has come forward to take her place, , St. Andrew's, Tokomaru Bay. — The Chuvch Committee here 7 are negotiating with the Maoris^for a freehold site for the church. If this is brought about the building will be moved and held conjointly by Maoris and Europeans. — The choir here has been reorganised by Mrs Webster, but the. congregation has been sadly depleted by so many of its members leaving the district. Waipiro Bay. — The Ladies' Guild has been started again and now meets on the. Saturday before the third Sunday m the month at the Vicarage. Tuparoa."— The "Church Committee here has been doing useful work and is now endeavoring, -in conjunction with the Rev. Pine Tamahori, to obtain proper titles to the sections on which the churches at Tuparoa /and ICaharau are standing.
