LABBE EDGEWORTH.
TO THE EDITOR. —You write in your number or issue dated December 21, 1922, page 47, that Louis XVI. was accompanied in his last moments by the Abbe Wentworth who pronounced "these solemn and significant words" : "Son of St. Louis ascend into heaven." lam astonished that some one of your readers did not correct you in this statement. The Abbe Edgeworth and he an Irishman, assisted Louis the XVI. and to him the words are attributed. The English may claim the greater part, of this earth. This does not- give them a license, and they have taken it frequently, of claiming distinguished men of Irish birth or origin. as Englishmen. lam indebted to a New Zealand relative, for an occasional copy of your interesting weekly. Kindly understand that I am not seeking to advertise myself when I call your attention to the part that an Irishman had in the Thriving of Louis XVI. Go raib maith agat, Is niise, le meas riieor, Agus do carad, Seorrse P'Maviscall, ' • " " Saggart paroiste, ..../.. ■'"' . Cill pedar, No Walpole, N.H./ U.S.A. February' 12, 1923. ; ~ - . Man De ?
