Greymouth
(From Our Own Correspondent.) June 24. A beautiful Axminster carpet, valued at 60 guinea.*, the gift of an anonymous donor, has been received for the sanctuary of St. Patrick's Church. Mr. and Mrs. John Gieseking, who have been residents of Greymouth for many years, left last Monday for the North Island. Prior to their departure they weie the recipients of several valuable presentations from their many friends. A very successful progressive euchre tournament took place in St. Columba Club rooms last Wednesday evening The ladies' prizes were won by Miss Heffernan and Mi3S Sharkey, whilst Messrs. W. Williams and W. Harsall accounted for the gentlemen's prizes. Musical items were contributed by Mrs. A. King and Messrs. Williams, McKeowen, King, and Master King. The accompaniments were played by Miss Alice Priest. Refreshments weio handed around by the ladies' committee.
