THB ADDINGTON STOCK MABKBT. Considering that there will be no sale during Christmas week the entries at Addington were small but quite sufficient for requirements. Fat Cattle — 167 yarded, inoluding a fair proportion of good steers. The market opened at last week's rates, but improved Is to Is 6J per 1001 b. Good to prime beef. 22s to 25s ; other, 17s 6d to 21s. Beet steers realised L 9 to LlO 17s 6d ; others, L72s6d to L 8 10s ; heifers, L 5 15s to L 8 15s ; cows, L 5 15s to L 8 17s 6d. Fat Sheep — 3500 pennei. mostly good sorts, inoluding a few choice pens for Christmas. These were in keen demand, Acton estate Downs and crossbred wethers making 23a to3od, and J. John's Downs 23*. A l»ne of North Island wethers, only landed on the previous day, sold at 15s to 16s 9d. Frepzera only operated moderately, but about 900 were taken for export at 14* to Ms ; butchers' sorts sold irregularly. Ordinary wetherp, 13* to 16-* ; best ewes, 13$ to 15s 6tl ; ordinary, 9s to 12s ; inferior, 4s lOd to 8a ; very prime merino wethers, 17s 6d ; and ordinary, 8a 2d to 10-t. Fat Lambs— 2ooo penned, mostly good quality, and a good sale resulted. About half were taken for export at 12s Id to 14n lOd, the majority making 13* 6d to 14s. The balance went to butchers at 10a 6d to 13s for secondary, up to 15s 5d for prime. Store Sheep — 1520 penned, nearly all ewes with lambs, which sold better owing to the late rains, which are improving 1 the feed proepoots. Two-tooth ewes with lambs realised 8s 2t to 11s 6d, and aged ewes with lambs 6s 6d to 10a (all counted) ; hoggets, 11s Bd. Pigs— soo penned. Fats maintained late rate*. Baconers, 34s to 49s v or 3£d per lb ; porkers, 23s to 80a 6d, or 3sd to 3|d per lb ; Btores weaker ; laiger sorts, 14s to 20a ; suckers and weanerß, 5s to 9a.
