REEFTON.

There was a very large attendanoe at the Prinoess Theatre, Reef ton, on the evening of May 22, when an entertainment by the Convent pupils was given. The concert opened with a pianoforte duet admirably played by Misses Clerkin and Evans. The extern Ringing class, consisting of Misses Keily, Montgomerie, McNatnara, and Walshe, followed with a oharming glee. Misses Whitton, O'Brien, Heath, and Murray acquitted themselves admirably in a violin selection. This was succeeded (saya the Inangahua Timct) by a song and chorus in which a number of junior pupils — prettily attired— took part. This was encored, as was also the following item — a recitation — by Miss Bily MoEittrick. A pianoforte trio was then performed by Misses Whitton, Dykes, and Anderson, after which Master B. Daffy gave a humorous item. The first portion of the programme was brought to a close with a cantata and tableau, wherein all the pupils made a brilliant display. The second part opened with a pianoforte duet nicely played by Misses Horton and Kennedy. A popular item was a glee by the extern singing class, which was succeeded by a violin trio contributed by Misseß O' Brien, Whitton, and Heath. A number of the pupils gave a Bohemian dance with considerable grace, and Miss Montgomerie was warmly applauded for a vooal item. One of the best items was a minuet in appropriate costumes by Misses Knowsley, McMasters, Growley, Heath, Walshe, Hansby and Dykes. A humorous address by Mr. Robert Crowley brought to a close one of the most successentertainments ever held in Reef ton. The majority of the acoompaniments were played by Miss Clerkin (piano) and Messrs. Lynch and Anderson (violin). At the olose of the ooncert Rev. Father Hiokson returned thanks to all who had assisted and to the audienoe for their attendanoe.
