Auckland.— 24th April last, the property of MARGARET EMILY DALL, 534 Parnell Road, a brown imitation leather ring-case, lined with blue velvet, “ Stewart Dawson ” printed inside, containing a ladies’ 18 ct. gold ring, No. 9826, set with a sapphire in a circle of eight diamonds, raised platinum setting, value £45 ; a black imitation leather ring-case with white lining, containing a,ladies’ 18 ct. gold ring with five pearls and eight small diamonds in raised filigree setting, value £ls 15s. ; and a mottled green xylonite ring-case with black velvet lining, value 7s. 6d. Identifiable. While transferring her effects from 30 Seaview Road; Remuera, to 534 Parnell Road, the above-described property was stolen.

Auckland. 3oth April last, from a bar in the Waverley Hotel, the property of EDGAR VIVIAN SHERLEY, petty officer, H.M.N.Z.S. “ Philomel,” Devonport, a doublebreasted blue serge naval overcoat, “ E. V. Sherley ” on back; and a dark-brown imitation leather attache-case, 15 in. by 12 in., “ E.V.S.” on lid total value, £5 11s. 6d. Identifiable.

Palmerston North. — 2Bth March last, from a store at South Norsewood, Hawke’s Bay, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Army Department), a 303, calibre magazine Lee-Enfield service rifle, Mk. 111, bolt No. C. 0580, barrel No. 47471, butt No. 2 W.N. over 371 ; value £8 10s. Identifiable. The rifle was stolen from the store while the soldier to whom it was issued was having some refreshments.

Palmerston North. — l ultimo, from the Limited Express train, the property of NANCY GRACE ROBERTSHAWE, St. Mark’s Vickcrage, Wellington, a brown fibrecane suit-case, about 24 in. by 18 in. by 12 in., containing a ladies’ brown felt hat; a ladies’ green felt hat ; twelve handkerchiefs; a dark-red woollen cardigan with long sleeves and dark-red buttons ; a blue woollen dress with V-shaped neck, long sleeves, blue buttons to waist ; a Grafton silk figured dress; a dark-green Braeme raincoat with umbrella design on buttons ; a white locknit petticoat ; a lemon-coloured georgette blouse; a linen towel with “N. Lower Hutt.— ‘Between the 24th and 26th April last, the shop of ROBERT BERNARD LIND, 60 High Street, was broken into and the following stolen : £6 in money; and a four-valve H.M.V. Nipper portable radio set of battery type, black enamel case, 11 in. by 4^-in. by 51 in., serial No. 297, patent royalty No. F. 17245; total value, £lB 12s. Identifiable except money. ,

Wellington.— l6th April last, from the dwelling of KATHLEEN DORA ANDERSON, 59 Ghuznee Street, a black telephone of desk type, “ 8.P.0.” underneath, dial No. 52-862, about 42 in. of cord attached ; value, £4 10s. He has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

Wellington.— loth April last, from the dwelling of GRACE EVELYN BAKER, 186 Abel Smith Street, a gentlemen’s silver-plated open-face Omega pocket watch, fifteen jewels, “ To Phil, from Grace, 1937 ” on back case, number 8236284 or 8236350 ; value, £3 10s. Identifiable.

Dunedin. —On the Bth or 9th April last, the shop of MURTON GEORGE AUSTEN, second-hand dealer, 29 Frederick Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A ladies’ 9 ct. gold plain band ring with a pearl in a heart-shaped setting, band has been cut to enlarge ring ; an 18 ct. gold ring, originally set with three diamonds and two sapphires in straight claw setting, one diamond now missing; a ladies’ dress ring, set with an amber stone surrounded by small pearls ; a gold alloy ring, set with three small rubies in filigree worked leaves ; a ladies’ 18 ct. gold ring with a brown stone in raised setting; an 18 ct. gold ring with four small diamonds and three blue-green stones in straight claw setting; an 18 ct. gold marquise ring, diamond shape setting of rubies and diamonds on plain gold band ; total value, £lB 13s. 6d. Identifiable.
