Deserting Wives and Families, &c.

Auckland. — Walter McQuoid is charged on warran with deserting his wife, Louisa McQuoid, since the 3rd June 1901. Description: A native of New Zealand, a carter, twenty-one years of age, about 5 ft. 8 in. high, strong build, dark complexion, black hair inclined to be curly; 2N and flag tattoed on one arm. When last seen was wearing a blue-serge coat, a vest with grey and brown stripes, tweed pants, blue-cloth cap, top-boots, and straw hat. He was employed as carter at Onebunga, and left there on the 3rd ultimo. His parents reside at Coromandel.

Auckland. — John Hughes is charged on warrant with failing to provide for the maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child. Description: A native of Wales, a baker, nineteen years of age, medium build, brown eyes, hair, and small brown moustache, heavy eyebrows, large ears, right one much larger than the left, upper front teeth missing, speaks with a slight lisp ; dn ssed in dark-tweed sac suit and white straw hat. He left Devonport on the 10th ultimo, and has friends at Cambridge. Complainant, Edith Maud Francis, Devonport, Aucklaud.

Auckland. — Edward Green is charged on warrant of commitment to Mount Eden Prison for one month for disobeying an order of Court to pay £1 Bs. a week towards the support of his illegitimate children. Description : A native of Tasmania, a bricklayer, forty-two years of age, 5 ft. 8 in. high, medium build, fair oomplexion, brown hair, and blue eyes. On the 16th April last he was in arrears £7 4s.

Every possible inquiry should be made for offender, as his wife and family are destitute and receiving charitable aid.

Wellington.— John Randolph is charged on warrant with deserting his wife, Mabel Randolph, since the 20th February last. Description: A native of London, thirtysix years of ago, about 5 ft. 7 in. or 8 in. high, medium build, very dark complexion and eyes, dark hair, moustache only; very fond of drink ; usually works at hotels or on steamers as cook, was last heard of at Gisborne, and has left his wife and infant child destitute.

Wellington. — Robert Matson is charged on warrant of commitment to Invercargill Gaol for six months for disobeying an order of Court to pay ss. a week towards the support of his illegitimate child. Description : A Dative of Petone, Wellington, a labourer, twenty-four years of age, about 5 ft. 9 in. high, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, no hair on face, supposed grey eyes, scar on top of nose, dressed in dark suit, usually wears a Dr. Jim hat. Is said to he fond of drink, football, and cricket, and may seek employment in a wool factory. There is now in arrears the sum of £33 ss.

Clyde Quay (Wellington). Alfred Frederick Gosden is charged on warrant with deserting his wife, Julia Gosden, since the 17th ultimo. Description : A native of England, a butcher, forty-five years of age, about sft. 7£in. high, stout build, fair complexion, fair hair, hazel eyes, mole on left temple, clean shaved except fair moustache, Roman nose ; dressed in slate-coloured sac-suit, black hard hat. He shipped on the s.s. “ Mararoa ” about two months ago, and on arrival at Melbourne left the vessel, but no trace can be obtained of him there.

Christchubch.— Richard Davis is charged on warrant with disobeying an order of Court to pay ss. a week towards the support of his illegitimate child. Description : A native of New Zealand, a venetian-biind maker, twenty-three years of age, 5 ft. 6 in. high, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, grey eyes, peculiar shaped under-lip. On the 21st May last there was in arrears the sum of £4 10s. Complainant, Elizabeth Mooar, Addington, Christchurch.

Christchurch. — John Marigold is charged on warrant with failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child. Description: About sft. Bin. high, slight build, dark complexion and hair, blue eyes, clean shaved, two wreaths tatooed on one of his arms, “ L.P.K.” in one, and “ J.M.” in the other wreath, bullet-wound in palm of one hand. Supposed gone to Dunedin. Complainant, Elizabeth King, Tuam Street, Christchurch.
