Deserters from His Majesty’s Service.
From H.M.S. “ Pylades,” at Auckland. On 16th June, 1901. Carlo Y. Mecallef, domestic, third class, Maltese, nineteen years of age, 5 ft. in. high, dark hair and complexion, hazel eyes, small scar on cheek-bone ; dressed in light-coloured suit and skull-cap. From H.M.S. Pylades at Lyttelton. On 27th June, 1901. Edward J. Palmer, petty-officer, first-class, a native of Suffolk, England, twenty-eight years of age, 5 ft. 7£in. high, dark brown hair, grey eyes, fresh complexion, “ T.P.” tatooed on left forearm, bracelet on each wrist. A reward of £3 will be paid for the apprehension of each, in addition to £5 from the Colonial Government.
From H.M.S. “ Juno,” at Sydney. On Ist June, 1901.
William Whittaker, ordinary, twenty-three years of age, a native of York, England, 5 ft. 6 in. high, brown hair, grey eyes, fresh oomplexion, dots on right forearm.
Harry T. French, A. 8., twenty-one years of age, a native of Sussex, England, 5 ft. sin. high, brown hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion.
From H.M.S. “ St. George,” at Sydney. On Ist June, 1901.
James Yardley, bandsman, twenty years of age, a native of Chester, England, 5 ft. 4 in. high, light-brown hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion, bust of woman on left arm.
Walter Smith, stoker, twenty years of age, a native of Guernsey, 5 ft. 5 in. high, brown hair, grey eyes, dark complexion.
John William Pont, bandsman, nineteen years of age, a native of Sussex, England, 5 ft. high, brown hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion, dots on left arm.
From H.M.S. “ Royal Arthur,” at Sydney. On 3rd June, 1901.
Albert Price, ordinary, twenty-one years of age, a native of Worcester, 5 ft. 3 in. high, brown hair, hazel eyes, fair complexion.
James F. Murray, A. 8., twenty-four years of age, a native of Lancaster, 5 ft. 2 in. high, light-brown hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion.
Herbert G. Brockway, A. 8., twenty-four years of age, a native of Dorset, 5 ft. 5 in. high, dark-brown hair, brown eyes, fresh complexion, anchor on left arm.
From H.M.S. “ Karrakatta. ” at Sydney. On 10th June, 1901.
Francis Joseph Leonard, domestic, twenty-six years of age, 5 ft. 5 in. high, brown hair and eyes, pale complexion, various coats of arms, &c., tattooed on chest and arms. A reward not exceeding £3 will be paid ior the apprehension of each of the above deserters.
