Horse- and Cattle-Stealing.
Tauranga. —Ernest Sydle, Waimapu, reports stolen from a paddock, between the 20th and 25th ultimo, a chestnut filly, draught breed, about 14 hands high, seventeen months old, white broad blaze down face, nearly straight on off side, but widening out over the eye on the near side ; four white feet, white on hind feet comes up to the knees: value, £9.
Kamo.— William Sinclair, reports stolen at Hikurangi, on the 25th ultimo, a light-bay hack gelding, about 16 hands high, small white star on forehead, shod all round, slight depression in rump, no brands; had on an old colonial saddle, iron stirrups, one stirrup-leather broken away from buckle, round leather girth, and a double-reined bridle, much worn, reins sewn on to bit: value, £B.
Opunake. —Wi Paka, Pihama, reports stolen, about the 12th ultimo, a chestnut mare, light-draught breed, three years old, unbroken, white face, branded RH on olf rump; foal at foot; value, £l2.
Hunterville. —The Rev. John M. Devenish reports stolen from a paddock on the 7th March last, a bay mare, aged; 14 hands high, black points, long tail, shod all round, saddlemarks on right wither, branded HS on off shoulder: value, £6.

Palmerston North. —John Connors, charged with stealing Joe For’s gelding (recovered), has been arrested by Constable P. Minogue for this and another similar offence, and committed for trial on both charges. Offender was going under the name of John P. Brown, and is also known as John Hehir.
