Missing Friends.

Thomas Henderson, a survivor from the wreck of the s.s. “ Wairarapa,” is inquired for by his mother through the Inspector-General of Police, Sydney. Description: Eighteen years of age, sft. 6in. or Tin. high, stout build, dark complexion, black hair, no hair on face ; a shoemaker by trade, but recently worked on a station in New South Wales. On the 28th ultimo he applied to the Benevolent Society, Wellington, for assistance, and received an order to go into the Home, but did not do so, and has since left the town. (95/73.)

Lafontaine. —Information is requested by the French Consul at Wellington concerning Jules Lafontaine, a miner, about sixty-four years of age. He was well known at Hokitika, and left there in 1878 for Christchurch, but no trace of him can be obtained in that city. He is described by the Hokitika police as about sft. 4in. high, dark or swarthy complexion, medium build, weight about 10st., spoke English imperfectly. (95/33.)
