Escaped Prisoner.

Wanganui.— George Harper escaped from the hard-labour gang employed at the Museum, Queen’s Park, at 3.45 p.m. on the 19th ultimo. Description : Irish, a gardener, an exconstable, forty-three years of age, looks younger, sft. high, medium build, fair curly hair, fresh complexion, lightbrown eyes. (See Police Gazette, 1893, pages 24 and 99.) Photographed at Auckland on 27th December, 1892. He was undergoing a sentence of six months, and has been repeatedly convicted. Last heard of as having been at Poverty Flat, Wanganui, at 9 p.m. on the above date. A later report states that he is supposed to have been seen about the 14th instant between Karioi and Tokaanu, making towards the latter place. He has no front teeth, and was close-clipped at the time of his escape.
