Inquest.
Lumsden (Southland.) —On the 20th March last the body of a man, unknown, was found in the bed of the Oreti River, near Mossburn, and at an inquest held on the following day a verdict of “Found dead” was returned. Description: About forty years of age, sft. Sin. high, dark hair, brown or sandy whiskers and moustache, medium build; dressed in dark-cloth coat, well worn, pepper-and-salt trousers and vest (trousers strapped with check material, and patched at knees), old blue guernsey, coloured-cotton shirt, red handkerchief, woollen socks, and old Balmoral boots, botli well worn, and a hole cut inside the upper of the right one. Deceased arrived at Mossburn, from the South, on the Gth of the previous month, and left for Five-River Station on the following day. He was in a weak and destitute state, but had the appearance of having seen better days. Said to have been in the colony about twelve months, and that his brother lives in Warwickshire, England.
