Horse- and Cattle-Stealing.

(See Police Gazette, 1888, page 109.) The mare, the property of Richard Stark, reported stolen from Drain Road, near Rangiora, has been recovered; not stolen.

(See Police Gazette, 1888, page 99.) The mare, the property of James Drake, stolen from Dome Valley, has been recovered. She was sold at Auckland on the 7tli April last to Mr. Crowther, livery-stable-keeper, by a man who gave his name as John Armitage, for whose arrest for stealing her a warrant has been issued by the Warkworth Bench. Description : English, between twentyfive and thirty years of age, sft. 6in. high, stout build, dark complexion, dark beard whiskers and moustache; wore darktweed suit; respectable appearance. Identifiable.

Stolen between 10.30 p.m. on the 26th and 8 a.m. on the 27th ultimo, from the Red House Hotel Stables, New Plymouth, a dapple-grey gelding, hack-breed, about nine years old, 154 hands high, mark from wire from near shoulder extending nearly across breast, which is noticeable through being of a dark colour, value £lO ; a small cow-hide saddle, “ H. Waite ” written in ink under flap, nickel-silver stirrup-irons, and a single-rein bridle with silver bit and iron buckles, end of reins split, value £8 ; the property of Henry Waite. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 3rd or 4th instant, from a paddock at Hastings, Hawke’s Bay, a chestnut gelding, hack-breed, four years old, 14 hands high, silver mane and tail, shod all round, branded JG on near shoulder; the property of James Grant Sutherland ; value £7. Identifiable.
