(See Police Gazette, 1888, page 109.) John Dignan, alias Ginger, charged on warrant of commitment to gaol for one month’s labour, in default of paying £5 65., fine and costs, for unlawfully taking rock-oysters, has been arrested by Constable Edward Mackey, Auckland Police. Fine and costs paid.

John Ingleby, alias Matthews, is charged, on warrant issued by the Christchurch Bench, with failing to provide his wife with adequate means of support, at Sydenham, near Christchurch, since about June, 1886. Description: A native of Yorkshire, an iron-smelter and labourer, fifty-seven years of age, 6ft. lin. high, stout build, light-blue eyes, brown hair beard whiskers and moustache turning grey, turns right foot slightly in when walking; slovenly appearance, fond of drink. He is a great agitator at meetings of the unemployed. He was at Brisbane in December last.
