Angus James Morrison McLaughlin McFadgen is charged, on warrant issued by the Wellington Bench, with stealing, about the 26th ultimo, from a stable in Lome Street, Wellington, a black-oilskin coat, value 10s., since recovered, the property of Patrick Cronin; a black-oilskin coat and a pair of black-oilskin leggings, value 125., since recovered, the property of John McCarthy ; and an oilskin coat, value Bs., since recovered, the property of John Smith. Description: Scotch, a labourer, twenty-eight years of age, sft. 2in. high, sandy complexion, hazel brown hair, clean-shaved except heavy sandy moustache; wears dark coat and vest, and dirty coloured-moleskin trousers, sometimes wears a tam-o’-shanter or hard black-felt hat; fond of drink. Green, Eltham, near Hawera, Taranaki,” containing a plain gold wedding-ring and two pairs of shoe-laces, value about £l, the property of Alfred Alsop, posted in the letter-box of the postal van at the Wellington and Manawatu Railwaystation, Wellington, has not reached its destination, and it is believed has been stolen.

A letter posted on the 18th July last, at Napier, by

Peter Farquhar Colledge, addressed “J. E. Baker, Baker Brothers, Wellington,” has not reached its destination, and it is supposed has been stolen. It contained a small cardboard box, in which were a colonial-gold wedding-ring and a colonial-gold keeper-ring, stamped “ 18 carat,” a crown and a kangaroo on inside; value £2 10s.

A small cardboard box, wrapped in a sheet of note-paper and tied with twine, addressed “ Miss K. Reading, Wellington,” posted at Napier on the 18tli July last, by William Thomas Collins Reading, has not reached its destination, and it is supposed has been stolen. It contained a silver brooch, oblong pattern, with two diagonal bars ; value 9s.

Stolen on the 22nd ultimo, from off a horse in Tory Street, Wellington, a pair of blinkers, partly worn, silver-plated, the plating on the buckles is slightly rusted, and the rosette buckle on one side is broken off; the propert}' of William Bristow ; value 15s. Identifiable.

Stolen between 10 a.m. on the Bth and noon on the 12th ultimo, from a wagon at the railway-station, Auckland, or between there and Te Awamutu, a box 13in. by Sin. by 6in., marked JWB over TEA, containing 261 b. of light-coloured canary-twist tobacco; the property of the Government; value £7 9s. 6d. Stolen about the 14th ultimo, from a letter between Aratapu and Auckland, two £1 notes ; the property of Robert Cobbald. Mr. Cobbald posted the letter at Aratapu on the 13th ultimo, addressed to “ Earle and Montgomery, Karangahape Road, Auckland, ” containing the two £1 notes and an order for goods, but when the letter was received by them it did not contain the money.

Stolen on the night of the 23rd ultimo, from the stable of Edmond Coleman, Wyndham, a very large saddle, considerably worn, pigskin seat, very large knee-pads, near kneepad ripped at bottom corner, a cut in each flap for surcingle to pass through, about 4in. of the inside of the flap lined with leather and the remaining portion with white lining, which is worn through under the seat exposing the stuffing, “ Richardson, Maker, Dunedin,” marked on outside of one of the flaps, old crupper attached, value £2 ; and an old yellow-oilskin coat, the buttons removed an inch inwards, a small piece torn out of the corner edge at centre of back, the top button is white and the others brown bone, value about ss. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 26th or 27th ultimo, from the clothes-line of Annie O’Brien, Maclaggan Street, Dunedin, a whitelinen shirt, size 15£, marked “ a Standard ” in red ; a linen chemise, a pair of ladies’ cotton drawers, a calico pillowslip, a striped towel, and two cambric kerchiefs, one white and the other striped with blue border; value 15s. Stolen on the 9th ultimo, from the railway-platform, Kawakawa, a case of kerosene-oil, marked “ Arnold, Hines, and Co., New York,” and addressed “A. Heslop;” the property of Alexander Heslop ; value 16s.
