Information is requested respecting James Roy, a bricklayer, who left Perth, Scotland, about six years ago, for Africa, and thence to this colony about two years since. He is inquired for at the instance of his wife, care Mrs. Nightingale, Strathmore Street, Perth, Scotland.

Information is requested respecting Edward Yardley, who, if living, is now about seventy-four years of age. Ho was a pawnbroker at Hertford from 1842 until 1850, and was engaged farming in Essex from 1850 until 1854. He left England for Melbourne in 1854, and thence to Dunedin in

1863. He is inquired for at the instance of his brother, A. J. Yardley, Pietermaritzburg, Natal, South Africa, who is anxious for any information regarding him, whether living or dead.

Information is requested respecting George Washington Montgomery, if living, or, if dead, the particulars of his death. He had been in the 3rd Waikato Militia, and has not been heard of by his relatives since 1865.

Information is requested respecting Ann Eliza Cole, nee Law, a native of Springfield, Wolverhampton, about fiftythree years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, black hair and eyes, pale complexion, ladylike appearance. She left Liverpool by the ship “ Blue Jacket,” in 1853, for this colony, and two years after her arrival married a Mr. S. Cole, a shipbuilder. She was heard of at Baker’s Bay, Auckland, in 1873. She is inquired for at the instance of Alfred Law, 104, Salop Street, Wolverhampton, England.

Information is requested respecting John Willis, a native of Wales, about twenty-four years of age, fair complexion. He left Plymouth by the ship “ Himalaya,” in July, 1875, for Lyttelton. He lived in Christchurch, but he left there about two years ago. He is inquired for at the instance of his brother-in-law, G. Sorrell, 7, Albert Mansions, Victoria Street, S.W.

Information is requested respecting Edward James Kell, a painters’ labourer, forty-one years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark hair and eyes. He served twelve years in the army and received the Abyssinian war medal. He left London on the Bth April, 1876, by the ship “ Camperdown,” for Nelson, where he arrived on the sth July, and thence to Christchurch on the Bth of that month. He is inquired for at the instance of William Henry Kell, 3, Angel Place, Walworth, Newington, London.

Information is requested respecting George Reisler, a German, a sailor and miner, forty-eight years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stoutish build, grey hair beard whiskers and moustache. He left the Wakatipu District in May last with the intention of returning to Germany by one of the direct steamers.

Information is requested respecting Aaron Goulding, a miner when in England, about fifty-four years of age, medium height, inclined to be stout, sandy complexion, slightly pockpitted, said to have lost part of one of his thumbs. Before leaving England he resided at Talywain, near Pontypool, Monmouthshire. He left Liverpool on the 16th March, 1857, by the ship “ Red Jacket,” for Melbourne, and in January, 1866, was heard of at the Hokitika goldfields. He is inquired for at the instance of Mrs. Elizabeth Goulding, Talywain, near Pontypool, Monmouthshire, England.

Information is requested respecting Walter Hamilton and Thomas Austin. Description : Hamilton is an Englishman, about twenty-seven years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, well built, fresh complexion, fair hair and moustache, very small fair side whiskers, good-looking, gentlemanly appearance ; generally dressed in dark-grey-tweed suit. Austin is an Englishman, a clerk, about twenty-five years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, fair moustache and side whiskers, good-looking, gentlemanly appearance ; generally dressed in brownish grey-tweed sacsuit and black hard felt hat. They are supposed to be travelling through the Australian Colonies, living by cheating, defrauding, and swindling business people. They obtained money and goods from business people at Dunedin so craftily that the proof of these cases are fraught with such difficulty as to necessitate the bringing of witnesses from Europe. They have so far escaped criminal prosecutions. They are now inquired for so that civil proceedings may be taken against them by the persons defrauded at Dunedin. They left Dunedin for the North Island about three months ago, and probably may have gone to Sydney or Melbourne.
