New District established. TiIF, following counties have been formed into an independent police district, and placed under the charge of Inspector
Kiely, Kihikihi, viz., Waikato, Kawhia, Raglan, Piako f Waipa, Tauranga, Whakatane, and West Taupo.
Reversion in Grade
Third-class Sergeant Alexander Hattie, No. 978, reverts to the rank of third-class constable on transfer from the Field Force to the Police Branch at his own request.

The sum of £3 has been awarded to Constable Daniel Bogue, Dunedin Police, for the arrest of a deserter from the ship “ Auckland.”
The sum of £3 has been awarded to Constable George Cowen, Port Chalmers Police, for the arrest of a deserter from the steamer “ Tainui.”
The sum of £2 10s. each has been awarded by the New Plymouth Borough Council to Sergeant John Duffin and Constable Michael Roche, New Plymouth Police, in recognition of their services in connection with the prosecution of Henry Paine, convicted for damaging street lamps.
The sum of £1 has been awarded to Constable Timothy O’Rourke, Wellington Police, for the arrest of a deserter from the steamer “ Tainui.”
The sum of 10s. has been awarded to Constable Thomas J. McCormack, by the master of the barque “ Nauphante,” for the recovery of a dog lost from that vessel.
Police-stations have been formed at Kihikihi and Alexandra, in the Waikato District.
Stephen Stamp Hutchison, committed for trial at the sittings of the Supreme Court, to be held at Dunedin, on the sth October next, on a charge of fraudulent bankruptcy, has been admitted to bail, and it is suspected that he will make another attempt to abscond. It is therefore advisable that he bo kept under surveillance, so that if he attempts to go abroad or quit his place of residence with a view of defeating, delaying, or embarrassing the proceedings referred to, a warrant for his arrest may issue under section 93 of “ The Bankruptcy Act, 1883.” Description: English, a gas-engi-neer, fifty-five j'ears of age, 5 feet 61 inches high, stout build, very florid complexion, brown hair, clean-shaved except small brown moustache ; usually wears black frock-coat, white vest, and white belltopper hat.
