Stolen on the night of the 11th ultimo, from the premises of the Brunner Brick and Timber Company, Taylorvillc,

near Brunnerton, a brass safety-valve, value £1; an iron nut and collar, value £1; two brass side-cutters of a planingmachine, value £5 ; a shifting-spanner, value 155.; and two screwjacks, value £lO. The screwjacks and one brass sidecutter only identifiable. Suspicion attached to Alexander McKenzie and John Barnett, both residing at Brunnerton.

Stolen on the 30th November last, at Petone, a binocular field-glass, covered with black leather, partly mounted with plated silver, the screw has been repaired; the property of Henry Tyer; value £2 10s. Identifiable. Jacob Epuni, a Maori residing at Petone, suspected.

Stolen on the 17th or 18th ultimo, from the railway-shed at Glentunncl, near Coalgate, six military white shirts, with collars attached; the property of Townley Filgato Culbcrt; value £1 10s. Identification doubtful.

Stolen between 3 p.m. on the 21st and 2.30 a.m. on the 22nd ultimo, from the premises of the Auckland Dairy Company, Newmarket, near Auckland, a leather harness-saddle, a breeching, a pair of leather traces with a few iron links at each end, a pair of brass liames, a pair of winkers, and a pair of leather reins ; value £6. Identifiable.

Stolen between 9 a.m. on the 22nd and 9.30 p.m. on the 24th ultimo, from a shed at Castle Street, Dunedin, a calico chemise and a pair of ladies’ drawers, the making of which had not been completed ; a yard of shepherd’s-plaid dressmaterial, three silk neckties, and two linen aprons, nearly new; value 125.; the property of Mary Murphy. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 28th ultimo, from the cabin of the “ Kestrel,” while lying at Dampier’s Bay, Lyttelton, a silver English lever hunting-watch, No. 22318, with silver chain and locket attached, an anchor on one side of locket; the property of William Matthews; value £B. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to a man, name unknown, supposed Irish, forty years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, medium build, fair complexion, fair beard, supposed mixed with grey, cheeks shaved ; wore dark coat, light trousers, and light billycock-hat. Identifiable. Supposed gone to Christchurch.

Stolen on the 11th ultimo, from a shed on the premises of Thomas Wear, Kumeu, a sack containing l£cwt. of kauri gum ; value £2 10s. Not identifiable.

Stealing carpenters’ tools, between the 27th and 29th September last, at Papanui, near Christchurch, the property of William Stephenson, Benjamin Fielder, James Mead, and Charles Freeman: John William Crabtree has been arrested for this offence by Detectives Thomas Neil and Maurice O’Connor, Christchurch Police, and committed for trial. Part of the property has been recovered.

A man, name unknown, is charged with stealing, during the night of the 30th ultimo, from a stable at the Lower Hutt, a single-breasted snuff-coloured waterproof overcoat with drab-velvet collar, two pockets in front, slightly tom at the fourth button-hole, and stitched with white thread ; the property of Josiah Gilbert Mackay ; value £2. Identifiable. Description: Supposed English, a labourer, about 5 feet 3 inches high, stout build, sandy hair, clean-shaved except sandy moustache, large nose ; wore blue-cloth suit; drunken appearance. He sold the coat on the 31st ultimo to James Mitchell, who said that he was going to ride a horse to Carterton. Offender left the Upper Hutt by train on the 31st ultimo for Carterton.

Stolen on the 29th or 30th ultimo, from the fowlhouse of Edward T. Wood, Castle Street, Dunedin, three common brown-and-white pigeons, value 35.; and a brown-and-whito pouter pigeon, value 10s. Identifiable.

Stolen between the 22nd and 28th ultimo, from the stable of the Ven. Archdeacon Thorpe, Bolton Street, Wellington, an English-made hogskin saddle, no stirrup irons; value £5. Identification doubtful.
