Horse- and Cattle-Stealing.
(See Police Gazette, 1883, page 217.) The horse, the property of Daniel Gunn, supposed stolen from a paddock near Wanganui, has been recovered.
Stolen about the 12th December last, from Hamilton East, Auckland, a bay gelding, pony breed, 14 hands high, four years old, pretty head, branded RH on off rump ; the property of Henry Chitty ; value £7. Identifiable.
Supposed stolen during the night of the 20th ultimo, from Gisborne, a bay pony mare, hack breed, aged, about 14 hands high, black points, small star on forehead ; the property of H. W. Kustain; value £6. Identifiable.
Supposed stolen during 1883, from Fairfield, near Oamaru, about 500 ewes, lambs, and wethers; lambs, branded LM on rump ; ewes and wethers various brands, some with 0 on near ribs and P on rump, others with ©.J.O.U. and CH or GH on different parts of body; the property of Edward Pargeter Barbury ; value £250.
Supposed stolen on the 15th November last, from a paddock at Southbrook, Canterbury, an upstanding bay hack, five years old, about 16 hands high, branded like ? on near shoulder, rather indistinct, hind and one of fore fetlocks white, two lower front teeth broken out, well bred; had on a head collar and a new cover; the property of James Kirk ; value about £lO. Identifiable.
(See Police Gazette, 1884, page 9.) The mare, the property of Alexander Peddie, supposed stolen from a paddock at Blenheim, has been recovered.
