(From Gazette, 1883, pages 908, 909, and 910.) Hares and Californian Quail mag be killed in Part of Pelorus Road District, County of Marlborough. Wm. F. DRUMMOND JERYOIS, Governor. In pursuance of the powers vested in me by “ The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and “The Animals Protection Act Amendment Act, 1881,” I, William Francis Drummond Jei*vois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that, from and after the date hereof, hares and Californian quail shall cease to be within the operation of the said Acts within the Pelorus Road District, excepting in that portion of the said district bounded on the East by the Waikakalio Stream from its source to the Wairau River; on the South by the Wairau River to the Wairau Road District; on the West by the Wairau Road District to its most northerly point; thence by a right line to the point of departure at the source of the Waikakalio Stream. As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-ninth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three. THOMAS DICK.

In exercise of the powers vested in me by “ The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and “The Animals Protection Act Amendment Act, 1881,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that native pigeons may be taken or killed within the Counties of Marlborough and Sounds from the first day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three. As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-ninth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three. THOMAS DICK.
