Deserters from Merchant Vessels.

Alfred Sparkes is charged with deserting from the ship “ Glenlora,” at Auckland, during the night of the 21st ultimo. Description : A native of London, a seaman, twenty-two years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, medium build, fair incipient whiskers, pimples on face.

Charles Anderson and John Brown are charged with deserting from the ship “Timaru,” at Port Chalmers, on the 27th or 28th ultimo. Description : Anderson is a German, thirty-four years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark eyes, black hair beard and moustache, cheeks shaved, swaggering gait. Brown is English, nineteen years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, medium build, broad shoulders, short neck, hazel eyes, dark brown hair, no hair on face.

JonN Learsen, Philip Cain, James Stroyan, David Hemmings, and Richard Harris are charged with deserting from the barque “ Pampero,” at Port Chalmers, on the 28th ultimo. Description: Learsen is a Russian, twenty-four years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout build, fair hair and complexion, no hair on face. Cain is English, twenty-two years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark hair and complexion, no hair on face. Stroyan is English, twenty-tw T o years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, si out build, fair complexion, no hair on face. Hemmings is Welsh, eighteen years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slight build, fair complexion, wears earrings. Harris is Welsh, eighteen years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout build, dark hair, and complexion.

Erick Soderberg and Edmond Keihn are charged with deserting from the barque “ Lohengrin,” at Port Chalmers, during the night of the Ist instant. Description : Soderberg is a Swede, twenty years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, medium

build, fair complexion and hair, no hair on face. Keihn is a German, eighteen years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, no hair on face, speaks bad English. A reward of £1 each is offered for their arrest.

Erick Pulk and Hans Bottler are charged with deserting from the barque “Woodville,” at Port Chalmers, during the night of the Ist instant. Description: Pulk is a Russian, twenty-three yeai’s of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, stout build, full face, clean-shaved, speaks very little English. Bottler is a German, about twenty-two years of ago, 5 feet high, medium build, fair fresh complexion, clean-shaved. A reward of £2 each is offered for their arrest if effected on or before the 21st instant.
