Blenheim Club's Annual Dance

.' IC’HE fourth annual dance of the THE fourth annual dance of the X Blenheim Young Farmers’ Club was held in St. Patrick’s Hall, Blenheim, and proved an outstanding success. The attendance numbered approximately 350, including a party of-fifty West Coast farmers who were on tour in the district at ,the time. During the evening speeches of welcome were made by Messrs. S. W. Jordan, President of the Farmers’ Union, and C. R. Laidlaw, Chairman of the Blenheim Y.F.C., and were replied to by Mr. Mulcare, the leader of
the visiting party. Members of this party were loud in their praises of the hospitality extended to them. The catering was in the hands of the W.D.F.U. senior and junior branches, and a sub-committee ing of Mesdames R. W. Thomson, R. T. Laidlaw, E. W. Rose and M. Grace (senior W.D.F.U.) and Misses Shirtlift and M. Walsh (junior W.D.F.U.) worked hard with the supper arrangements. J They were assisted by other W.D.F.U. members, the Y.F.C. members helping with the serving. A “hand
round” supper was , provided, and music was supplied by Queenie O’Sullivan’s orchestra. The meeting night before the dance was devoted to decorating the hall in the Y.F.C. colours of blue and gold, and on the stage were large bowls of autumn flowers. Work put in by. the club members resulted in the floor being in first-class dancing order. The net profits of this dance are being utilised to send parcels to members of the local club who are . serving overseas with the 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Forces. ' z
