The Lucullus—Merry Nif colt. Lucullan, who carried Mr. G. Seifert’s colours to victory in the Taita Handicap on the opening day of the Wellington Racing Club’s spring meeting and for whom his owner paid the Avondale trainer, S. G. Lindsay, 1000 guineas to secure possession of the Auckland-bred two-year-old, had the previous week run a good fourth in the Juvenile Handicap oh the second day of the Masterton meeting, and his success at Trentham did not come as a surprise to those who witnessed him run at Opaki.
