TE AROHA JOCKEY CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The Te Aroha Jockey Club’s meeting will take place on Saturday, March 8, on their up-to-date course, which has been further improved during the past year, and is now one of the best country racecourses in the Auckland province. The meeting promises to be the most successful yet held by the club, who are giving away 166550 vs in stakes. The Te Aroha Cup, of 400sovs, one mile and a-quarter, is the main event to be decided at the meeting, and as in former years is expected to attract a good field of useful handicap horses. The principal sprint race is the Waihou Handicap, of 200sovs, six furlongs, which should be the means of bringing together an array of sprinting talent of worthy calibre. The Ruakaka Handicap Hurdles, one mile and three-quarters, is worth 200 sovs, and an excellent response can safely be looked for from owners in connection with this event. The Farewell Handicap, one mile, is also of 200sovs value, and should fill well. The following events complete a programme which cannot fail to make a strong appeal to owners throughout the Auckland province:—Waitoa Handicap, of 175sovs, seven furlongs; Trial Handicap, of 150sovs, five furlongs and a-half, for horses that have not won a flat race of 50sovs or over at time of entry; Piako Handicap, of 165sovs, six furlongs; and Flying Handicap, of 175sovs, five furlongs and a-half.

Nominations for all events must be made with the secretary, Mr. E. O. Nash, Te Aroha, or with Mr. C. F. Mark, Durham Street East, Auckland, on or before Friday, February 14, at 5 p.m.
