HAMILTON RACING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING.

The Hamilton Racing Club have all along demonstrated by their strict adherence to a progressive policy that they are keen to do all in their power to further the interests of the sport and cater to the best of their ability for their ever-increasing list of patrons. Although at present restricted to one day’s racing in the

year, the club having temporarily lost one day in view of the curtailment of permits by Cabinet, the officials of the Hamilton Racing Club have arranged a fine programme of eight handsomely-endowed events in connection with their forthcoming meeting, the total stake monies amounting to £2250, an increase of £250 on that allotted for the 1918 meeting. The leading event is the Hamilton Cup Handicap, of 650sovs, one mile and a-quarter, which invariably induces a large entry, including a strong contingent from Ellerslie. The Cambridge Handicap, of 400sovs, six furlongs, is not likely to escape the notice of owners of sprinters, who will welcome the chance of annexing the valuable stake offered by the club for this important sprint event, which is certain to claim a large nomination. A race that will meet with keen appreciation from owners and trainers is the Tamahere Stakes Handicap, of 200sovs, six fur-

longs, for two and three-year-olds, and a good field is expected to face the starter. The Waimai Handicap Hurdles, of 200sovs, one mile and ahalf and 85 yards, caters for those who have hurdlers ready for early autumn engagements, and should be largely availed of by trainers. The additional four events complete a first-rate programme:—Trial Handicap, of 200sovs, one mile; Claudelands Handicap, of 200sovs, five furlongs; Karamu Welter Handicap, of 200sovs, one mile; and the Hautapu Hack Handicap, of 200sovs, six furlongs. Entries for all events close with the secretary, Mr. R. J. Gwynne, P.O. Box 26, Hamilton, or with Mr. F. D. Yonge, High Street, Auckland, at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 7.
