HAWKES BAY HUNT. The Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club and Hawke’s Bay Hunt will hold their spring meetings on the Hastings racecourse on October 8. and 9, the first day being devoted to the hunt fixture, for which a cap'tal programme has been arranged. The Hawke’s Bay Hunt Cup Steeplechase is worth 150 sovs, and there is a Maiden Hunters’ Steeplechase, a Hunters’ Handicap Hurdle Pace and a Hunters’ Flat Race, each of the value of lOOsovs. An Open Hurdle Race of 125sovs. and two Open Flat Handicaps, one of 125sovs and the other of lOOsovs, in all 900sovs. This should suit hunting enthusiasts and racing men alike. The Hawke’s Bay Guineas, worth 300 sovs, the Hastings Stakes of 250sovs, the Spring Hand’cap of 200sovs, and six other events of lOOsovs each make up an excellent bill-of-fare. Nominations go in for the whole of the handicaps for both meetings and forfeits are due for the Hastings Stakes and Hawke’s Bay Gu’neas on Wednesday, September 22, with Mr. W. J. Stratton, secretary.
