LYRIC THEATRE.

“ Between Man and Beast ’’ is the' subject of an unusually interesting film that heads this week’s programme at the Symonds Street theatre. The story revolves round the adventures of a young artillery lieutenant in India, who is held captive by a savage tribie. Big game hunting in the jungles plays a striking part in the production, and, with a realistic representation of a fire at sea, the film is a succession of thrills. The tension is relieved by a dainty love theme, brought about by the search of the lieutenant’s wife for her husband. Their re-union and escape from the savages ends a most engrossing story. “Daddy’s Soldier Boy” is the subject of a human little sketch that finds ready favour. The New Zealand Animated News and the Gaumont Graphic keep one abreast of the times with their up-to-date selections of news, while the humorous element is discriminately supplied. The orchestral selections are a special feature at the Lyric.
