TIVOLI THEATRE.

PHIL WALSH DRAMATIC COMPANY. This clever company have been appearing at the above theatre to crowded houses during the past week, and on Thursday evening presented a new American version of that drama “Ten Nights in a Bar-room,” which was received most enthusiastically. The staging of the piece was excellent, and reflects great credit on the management, especially the apotheosis at the conclusion of the play, the child’s ascent to Heaven being exceptionally fine. Mr. Phil Walsh, in the character of Joe Morgan, the inebriate, and afterwards Squire Morgan, was happily cast. He gave a fine interpretation as the drunkard, raising the audience, at times, to the highest pitch of enthusiasm. Miss Eva Marius-Paigne, in the role of Fanny Morgan, the drunkard’s wife, was- equally successful, and her emotional capabilities in the death-bed scene were excellent. Mr. George Gardner (as Sample Switchel) was quite at home in this clever comedy character. The remaining characters were all well filled by a capable cast, which had been specially augumented for this production. On Good Friday night a sacred concert, in conjunction with Mr. Hayward’s pictures, was given, items being contributed by Miss Eva Marius-Paigne, Miss Fanny M. Paigne, Mr. Phil Walsh and Mr. George Gardner, all being well received. To-night the company will present a new version of “ East Lynne,” in which Mr. Phil Walsh appears in the role of Archibald Carlisle and Miss Eva Marius-Paigne as Lady Isabel, supported by the full strength of the company. “East Lynne” will be played till Saturday evening when the present season will close, and on Monday Mr. Walsh commences, his. tour South.
