FEILDING JOCKEY CLUB’S AUTUMN MEETING.

FIRST DAY. The Feilding Jockey Club’s Easter meeting commenced on Monday. The weather was fine, but cold, and there was a large attendance. Four bookmakers operated inside and 11 outside. The totalisator investments amounted to £14,138, an increase of £2035 on the first day of last year’s meeting. The results were as follow: — WAIATA HACK RACE, about one mile.—John (F. Coleman) 1. Toanga 2, Strathmoira 3. Also started: Repeat, Moutoa Girl, Howler, Pantaloon. Won by half-a-length. MANGA ONE STAKES, six furlongs.— Hermia (E. Lowe) 1, St. Bill 2, Mon Ami 3. Also started: Lord Soult, North-east, True Sihot, Ballarat. Golden Loop, Golden Eagle, Dervish. Mon Ami hopped off in the lead, with Hermia second. On coming to the railway bend St. Bill put in a challenge, but Hermia came up and won rather easily by two lengths. KAWAKAWA HURDLE RACE, about two miles.—Oryx (J. Lyford) 1, Maku 2, Hydrant 3. Also started: Maidi, Gold Bird, Aorangi. All the horses got away nicely Gold Bird and Hydrant making the pace. Round the back Hydrant was still leading, Maku and Oryx being next. At the home turn the last three were

almost in line. These rose together at the last hurdle, and in the home run Oryx took the lead, winning comfortably by half-a-length. Aorangi fell. Time, 4m. 2 l-ss. TAONUI HACK HURDLES, one mile and three-quarters.—Windage (C. O’ Neill) 1, (Merry Lawn 2, Pikopo 3. Also started: Whimper, Nightmare, and Himitangi. Won easily by three lengths. Time, 3m. 21 2-ss. FEIT,DING CUP, one mile and a-half.— Crucinella (T. Pritchard) 1, Coronetted 2, Koran 3. Also started: Sandstream, Milan, Parable, Bourrasque, Te Puia, Adria, Uhlando, Marton. From a straggling start Koran jumped away, Coronetted and Crucinella being next. Past the distance Crucinella got the lead, and won by half-a-length. Time, 2m. 35 2-ss. ONEPUHI HACK WELTER, about one mile. —John (,F. Coleman) 1 Ukraine 2, Royal Maid 3. Also started: Liquid Air, Chase Mab. Waitoto, San Lass, Kimmerian, Rangikapua. Stevens, Embrocation, Epsom Downs. Won easily by two lengths. Time, lm. 47 2-ss. HALCOMBE WELTER HANDICAP, seven furlongs.—Goodwin Park (A. Oliver) 1, Lady Menschikoff 2, Passive 3. Also started: Nyland, Flingot, Redwing, Captain Bell. Afterthought. Goodwin Park won by half-a-length. .Time, lm. 29 4-ss. ONGO HACK RACE; about five furlongs.—Ascalon (R. McDonald) 1, Royal Marine 2 Beacon 3. Also started: Lady Doris, Genuine, Lady Moutoa, Blend, Leolanter, St. Kildare. Won easily Time, lm. 9 l-ss.

SECOND DAY.

The Feilding Jockey Club’s Easter meeting was concluded on Tuesday. There was a good attendance. Rain fell all the afternoon, but the racing was good. The totalisator investments for the two days amounted to £24,817, as against £22,104 for the last Easter meeting. The results were as follows:— DENBIGH STAKES.—St. Bill, 8.9, 1; ■North-East, 9.11, 2; Lord Soult, 9.9. 3. Also started: Hermia 8.9, True Shot 7.13, Nyiand 7.8, Redwing 6.9. Coming round the bend to the straight St. Bill led, with North-East coming up fast. Past the distance Lord Soult put in a challenge with North-East, but St. Bill held his own and won by a good length. Time, lm. 15 l-ss. AWAHURI HACK WELTER.—John, 10.10, 1; Strathmoira, 10.1, 2; Plantation, 7.7, 3. Also started: Bismarck 9.6, Liquid Air 8.10, San Lass 7.12, Rangikapua 7.9, Embrocation 7.7. A good start saw John and Liquid Air in the lead, with Strathmoira and Plantation in good positions. Down the straight Strathmoira came at John, but the latter came away, and won as he liked by three lengths. Time, lm. 59 2-ss. KIMBOLTON HURDLES.—Maku, 11.0, 1; Oryx, 10.9, 2; Maidi, 11.0, 3. No other starters. Maku, who had the inside running, got away first, and was never troubled, winning by five or six lengths. Maidi was close up on Oryx. Time, 3m. 25 4-ss. OROUA HACK HURDLES.—GoId Bird, 11.1, 1; Kaurora. 9.7, 2; Pikopo, 11.10, 3. Also started: Whimper 10.0, Chase Mab 9.12, Merry Lawn 9.2, Nightmare 9.2, Ranter 9.4. Kaurora and Ranter took the lead from an even start, and the former was leading at the straight, with Pikopo next. Gold Bird then came with a run, and led to the last hurdle, Kaurora and Pikopo being close up. In the run home Gold Bird won by nearly two lengths. Time. 2m. 52 4-ss. EASTER HANDICAP.—Koran, 7.9, 1; Adria. 7.1, 2; Lady Menschikoff, 7.8, 3. Also started: Sandstream 8.3, Coronetted 7.11, Tepuia 7.0, Golden Eagle 6.9. Koran led from the start, with Tepuia next, and Adria last. Round the back Adria raced to second place, Coronetted lying fourth. Round the bend to the straight Koran still led. Adria put in a strong run down the straight, but Koran was full of running, and won by half a length from Adria, Lady Menschikoff being half a length away, third. Time. 2m. 10 2-ss. REWA HACK HANDICAP.—'AscaIon, 7.8, 1; Beacon, 7.5, 2; Royal Marine, 8.13, 3. Also started: Golden Loop 9.3, Moree 7.3, Leolanter 6.2, Nukuhau 6.10, Repeat .6.10. .... Ascalon got the best of a bad start, and won easily by a good length. Time, lm. 16 4-ss. MAIDEN HACK SCURRY.—Celeano, 1: Howler, 2; Ahuapai, 3. Also started: Puketotara, Celebrity, Konowai, Vesuvius, Gold Bell. Sir Mauser, Epsom Downs, Taurangi. Jackpin, Miss Jean. Ahuapai led from the start. At the distance Celeano came to the front, and won by a length. Time, lm. 11 l-ss. MAKING WELTER.—Afterthought, 7.7 1; Bourrasque, 9.3, 2; Marton, 7.13. 3. Also started: Parable 9.3, Goodwin Park 9.1, Hydrant 8.2 Passive 7.12, Captain Bell 7.10, Redwing 7.9, From a good start Afterthought went to the front. Bourrasque, who was blocked at the first turn, raced after Afterthought at the home turn, but could not make up the gap Won by a length and a-half. Time, lm. 47 2-ss.
