A MOTOR LAUNCH RACE.
Owners of fast motor launches must by now be reflecting on the bld nursery legend of the goose and the golden egg. If rumour is not altogether wrong, some funny things have been done in launch racing, the result being that owners now refuse to enter. The North Shore Yacht Club could only get three starters on Saturday, these being:—Maroro, scratch; Hinetai, Bm. 565.; and Jersey Lily, 3m. 12s. Maroro, despite being in heavy cruising trim, was much too good for the others, winning by 7min. from Hinetai, which was 4%min. ahead of Jersey Lily.
