January 18. . x'retty Toilettes. Some pretty street and visiting toilettes I have noticed lately include: Lady Russell, stylish black charmeuse gown, banded with black silk, black straw hat; Mrs Nairn, cream embroidered gown, pale grey straw hat, black osprey; Misa Russell, champagne net gown, black straw hat with champagne roses; Mrs Macdonell, smart frock of turquoise blue poplin, piped with black satin, large black hat; Mrs Haise, black and white silk, small
black straw hat; Mrs McLeod, pretty frock of white embroidered muslin, black plumed hat; Mrs de Lisle, champagne coat and skirt, hat of cream straw with pink flowers; Miss de Lisle, white embroidered frock, cream hat. Concert Party.
Madame Kirkby Lunn and her concert company did not visit Hastings, but a great many Hastings folk either motored or trained into Napier to hear the concert. Sir Win., Lady and Miss Russell, Mr and Mrs Faulknor, Misses Hewson, Miss Lowry, Mrs Lewis, Mr and Mrs Douglas, Misses Mason, Mrs and Miss Hoadley, Mrs Stewart, Miss Seal, Miss Lanauze were amongst the number.
Personal. Miss Giblin has returned South. Mrs McNairn Miller has returned to Hastings. Mr and Mrs Duke Shields have come to reside in town for two months, and have taken the residence of Mrs Richardson. Mr and Mrs W. Douglas are leaving shortly for England. Mr and Mrs J. W. White have returned from the coast, and leave this month for the Continent. Miss Enwright has returned to the West Coast.
