January 17. Afternoon Tea. Yet another tea was given in farewell to Miss Kitty Wood, when Mrs. ‘Russell Dunean entertained her friends on Tuesday afternoon. The hostess wore a very ■pretty white muslin gown, much trimmed white insertion and lace; Miss Kitty Wood, smart grey Shantung, embroidered with mauve and grey, grey tagel hat wreathed with roses; Mrs. Wood, pale grey embroidered voile, black hat with lancer plumes; Miss Duff, cream silk suit, eream tagel with feathers; Mrs. Troutbeck, dark mole cloth gown with touches of purple mole and purple toque; Mrs. Ewen Troutbeek, becoming gown or apricot charmeuse, black hat with cream ostrich feathers; Mrs. Barron, grey muslin hat with Oriental buekle; Mrs George Roberts (Dunedin), white linen suit, champagne hat; Mrs. Pattullo, periwinkle blue charmeuse, black and blue hat; Mrs. Bowen, tussore eoat and skirt, smart hat with red roses; Miss Seed (Wellington), floral pink and blue voile, brown hat wreathed with flowers; Mrs. S. Personal. Mrs. Ernest Hadfield (Wellington is staying in Napier for her sister’s wedding, which takes place on January 17. Mr. and Mrs. P. S. McLean are visiting friends in the South. Mr. and Mrs. Colin Campbell are going to live in Dunedin. They leave Napier early next week. Mrs. F. Waterhouse returned to Maungawhare this week. Mrs. H. B. Lusk and family leave for England next month. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Gaisford, of Bulls, are staying in town. Mrs. John McVay and Mrs. Swan have returned from Wellington. Mrs. J. Vigor Brown and her daughter left for Auckland on Friday morning. Miss Margaret Liang has gone to Oamaru for a few weeks. Mrs. J. J. Faulkner, of Hastings, is staying in town at present. Mrs. (Dr.) Jarvis is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Bennett, Patoka. Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Myers and Miss Myers, of Wellington, are staying at the Masonic Hotel.
