HAMILTON.

~F3E»ry 18. Children’s Party. The children were pleasantly entertained on Wednesday at a party given by Mrs. J. S. Bond. After a fascinating time with some of the lovely toys just brought back from England, “tea” was served in the dining-room, with flags waving over all sorts of good things, including a lovely birthday cake with candles and ornaments on it, and bonbons afterwards. Later much fun was caused by trying to hit blindfold a huge paper balloon, a lucky hit producing showers of sweets of various descriptions, which, of course, soon found owners. Mrs. Bond received her little guests in a pretty cornflower blue silk frock, -with floating panels and Persian embroidery, and a big flower-trimmed hat; her little ones, Nellie and Cherry, were in fine, dainty white muslin, lace trimmed. Among those present were: Mrs. McArthur and her two boys, Mrs. Bert Valder and her three little ones, Mrs. F. Wilson and her little ones and two nieces, Mrs. Tompkins with Koa and Ken, Mrs. Roehe, jun., with her little son, Mrs. Von Stunner with her two grandchildren, Mrs. Whyte with her two boys and Ngaire, Helen Heywood, and others whom I could not distinguish. Personal. Mrs. J. Jackson left for Wanganui during the week, owing to the serious illness of her father, the Hon. John Bryce, whose death subsequently occurred. Miss Frankish is paying a visit_ to her sister, Mrs. Heywood.

Mr. and Mrs. Bayly are away for a few weeks’ holiday. Miss Muriel Lorie is staying with Mrs. Barugh. Mrs. F. Wilson goes on Monday to Takapuna, where she intends staying a week or so with Mrs. Shakespeare. The Rev. — Strong, sub-warden of St. John’s, took both services at St. Peter's on Sunday last. Mrs. King is having a lovely holiday in the South Island, visiting friends in many places.

Mrs. Allan Bell is in Taranaki with her relations, after going to Whangarei for a short time.

Mrs. and Miss Loughnan are going to England for a trip; they leave Auckland on Monday. Mr. F. O’B. Loughnan, S.M., left Hamilton to-day for Auckland, en route to his new appointment in Blenheim.
