January 18. Theatre Party. A party of Pieton people journeyed to Blenheim per train and motor cars last week to see the production of “Get-Rich-Quick Wallingford,” by the J. C. Williamson Company. Among the party were: Mrs Barr, white silk blouse, black skirt; Mrs Madsen, cream satin, with an overdress of cream Brussels net; Mrs Allen, black satin and Maltese laee; Mrs Chaytor, white silk blouse, black skirt; Miss R. Greensill, white Indian muslin, with laee collar and cuffs; Miss M. Barr, white muslin; Miss Allen, blue silk frock; Miss B. Allen, sea green silk muslin, with bands of silk on bodice and Oriental trimmings; Mrs Nicol, cream voile, with trimmings of net and silk bands; Mrs Lane, pink satin, pale blue coat; Miss L. Oxley, white muslin; Miss O. Oxley, white blouse, black skirt; Mrs R. Smith, white embroidered blouse, black skirt. The gentlemen present were: Messrs Madsen, Lane, Nicol, Smith, Jones, Chaytor. (Holy Trinity Church has received several handsome presentations of late, among them being a memorial window, placed in the church by Miss Chaytor in memory of her brother, the late Mr Henry Chaytor; festal book-markers by Mrs H. C. Seymour; and a large pulpit prayerbook by Mr A. P. Seymour. The church will celebrate its jubilee in May next. With the exception of the old church in Wairau Valley, Holy Trinity is the oldest edifice in Marlborough, and special efforts are to be made by the congregation to fitly celebrate the anniversary of its erection. His Lordship the Bishop of Nelson has promised to visit Pieton for tire occasion. lawn Tennis.

The St. Andrew’s Club sent a good team to Picton to play the local club on Saturday last. St. Andrew’s won ten

out of fifteen games played, the local team not having had much practice of late. Afternoon tea was provided for the visitors and local players, and a very enjoyable afternoon was spent. The following players, took part:—St. Andrew’s: Misses Dodson, Reid, Eoley, Smale, Harding (2), Messrs Collins, Pattie, Shaw, Soper, Parker, Lagon. Picton: Mrs Riddel, Misses Chambers, Greensill, Philpotts, Wheatley, Smith, Messrs Rutherford, Wright, Blizzard, Osborne, Hale, Barr. Among those present were: Mrs Maealister, black voile dress, with a lace scarf, bonnet trimmed with purple sweet peas; Mra Chambers, white embroidered linen costume, black hat? Mrs Ibbetson (Seddon), black and white check, large black hat; Mrs Nicol, white lawn frock, with trimmings of white insertion and lace, white hat, trimmed with pink roses; Miss Tetley, pink frock, white hat; Mrs Burgess, blue silk muslin, with bands of blue silk on the bodice. large tagel straw hat, lined with pink silk and trimmed with sprays of pink roses. Bowling. The. Bowling Club were favoured with beautiful weather for their friendly match’ played against members from the (Blenheim Club on Wednesday last. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies, and was very much enjoyed. Among those present I noticed: Mrs Riddell, wearing a white silk blouse, brown skirt; Mrs Watson, black resilda, with trimmings of black satin and lace, large black hat; Mrs Allen, black resilda, with a back lace scarf; Mrs Nicol, white embroidered frock, black and white hat; Mrs Vickers,: white embroidered costume, grey hat, trimmed with a large pink rose: Mrs’ Madsen, white linen frock, h.it trimmed, with saxe blue and black velvet; Mrs Alport, blaek resilda, black hat; Miss tUiaanibers, white, frock; Miss Greensill, blue striped muslin frock, large cream hat, trimmed with pink and heliotrope sweet peas; Mrs Burgess, white lace blouse, linen skirt, black and white hat.

Personal. Dr. and Mrs Harrison, of Eltham, Taranaki, are on a’ visit to Picton and the Sounds.

Mrs ('. Philpotts has gone to Dunedin. Mrs A. iScott left last Tuesday on a holiday.visit to Masterton. Miss Macintosh, who has been visiting Mrs E. R. Lane, has returned to Wellington.

(Mr Rutherford, solicitor, who has severed his connection with Messrs Connely and Burden, left Picton on Wednesday for Stratford, where he and Mr Sinclair Maealister (also of Picton) are entering into partnership.

(Miss Ria Maealister returned to Picton on Wednesday last by the Pateena, after an enjoyable holiday 7 spent in Wanganui and Wellington.

The Misses Ramson, who have been visiting Mrs J. L. Harwood, of Dublin Street, have gone to Blenheim on a visit. Miss Urquart, who has been the guest of Mrs Dr. Rediman, returned to Blenheim on Tuesday. Mrs Redman left for Blenheim on Tuesday, to bid goodbye to her friends before leaving for England.
