January 18. At the Theatre. At His Majesty’s Theatre last Thursday evening, J. C. Williamson’s Company appeared in “Get-Rich-Quick Wallingford/’ when there was a large audience. Afternoon tea was given by Mrs Brock and Mra Thcuiifson at the Marlborough lawn tennis grounds last Saturday. There wias a large number present, includiing Mrs Bennett, Mrs R. Teshemaker-Shute, Mrs Higginson, Mrs Orr, Mrs Lambie, Mrs Huddleston, Misses M, Meade, Wiiistanley, Neville (2), Horton, Anderson, Robson (Christchurch), Grace (2), Elridge (Christchurch), Rogers, Messrs Wiffen, Mathers, Golding, Veade, r’aul (New Plymouth), Tovey. Thompson, Spence, Higginson, and Brock. Afternoon Tea. Mrs H. Howard gave a small tea i.n honour of Mrs Edward Chaytor (Palmerston North), who is veiling Mrs Chaytor, “Marshlands.” There were present: —Mm Bennett, Mrs W. (Houston, Mrs C. Watts, Mra Griffiths, Mrs Hill, Mica Chaytor, Miss Horton, Miss Rutherford, .Mrs L. Griffiths, Mra Wynn-Williams (Auckland), and Miss (Houston. Personal. Mr and Miss Elridge (Christchurch) are the guests of Mrs Grace, “The Vicaragv.” Mrs J. Teshemaker-Shute is the guest of Dr. and Mm Meiade, Walter Street. Miss Laura Vvolferatan is spending a short holiday in the Sounds. Mra Allen (Pieton) has been visiting her daughter. Mrs Chaytor, at “Springlands.” Mioses Rutherford (2) (Sumner) passed through Blenheim on Friday on their way 7 South, paving come overland from Christchurch.

Mrs Strachan, who ha.i been visiting Mrs D. Strachan, has returned to Dunedin.

Miss Joe Horton (Napier) is visiting her parent.:. Mr and .Mrs Horton, “Wilmot House.”

Miss Urquhart he.s been spending a week in Wellington. Mr.; K. Adams has returned from Wellington. having been across to nieet her mother, Mrs Preshaw. Australia.

Quite a number of friends a..minified nt the railway station last Saturday to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs B. Coleman and family, who left for Auckland where they intend to reside. They will be much missed from our midst.

Mrs nnd Miss Danipnr Atkinson, “Corea, ' were in town during the week. Mra Hall, “The Pinot,” has returned from visiting her daughter, Mns Seymour Richmond, “Richipond Brook.” Mass Fulton left for a holiday to Invercargill on Thursday.

Mra Losiinnn is vi.siting friends in Wellington.
