For some years past St. Peter’s Ladies’ Guild has heli) a garden party at “Werneth,” Mr. John Oldham's residence at Wakapuaka, and each year has achieved success. -Yesterday's gathering eclipsed its predecessors, there being a reeprd attendance, which included a large number from town. The spot is an ideal one for a summer function, and the shade of the trees was most welcome. Numerous stalls were arranged, and ther were also various competitions. Phonograph selee tions were supplied during tihe afternoon by Mr. T. Leonard. The garden party was opener! by Jlishop Sadlier, and among other guests were: Mr. and Mrs. .John Oldimm, Miss Oldham, Mrs. Mules, Mrs. T. F. Taylor, Mrs. Hunter-Brown, Mrs.

The nineteenth meeting of the Anglican General Synod w-as opened at the Provincial Hall, Nelson, by the Primate (Bishop Nevill) of Dunedin, and a special service was held at the Cathedral in the evening, when a very learned discourse was given by Bishop Crossley (Auckland). There was a large number of dlergymen and laymen present, and the church was crowded.

There are a large number of delegates present from all parts of the Dominion, and they include the following Bishops: —-The Primate (Bishop Nevill, Dunedin), Bishop Sadlier (Nelson), Bishop Sprott (Wellington), Bishop Crossley (Auckland), Bishop Julius (Christchurch), Bishop Averill (Waiapu), Bishop Wood (Melanesia), Bishop Willis i-.ji), and Bishops Mules and Williams. Mr. and Mrs. John Graham and the Misses Graham have returned from England.

Mrs. and Miss Satchel! have also returned from a visiti to England and the Continent.
