November 3 Cards and Music. Mrs. Budge invited a few friends to meet Mrs. Mclntosh (Wellington) cn Tuesday evening. Bridge and music constituted a very pleasant evening. Mrs. Budge was wearing pale blue mousseline de soie.; Mrs. Mclntosh, black taffetas airtl champagne net, lovely silver and black gauze scarf; Mrs. Richards, white silk; Mrs. Cardale, shrimp pink silk trimmed with dainty lace; Mrs. H. S. Curtis, white Louisine silk, trimmed bebe Irish lace; Mrs. Rennell, sage green voile over silk, jet Juliet cap and ornaments; Mrs. Budd, French grey voile; Mrs. Stubbs, black silk; Mrs. Chinchin, becoming black silk with berthe of cream net and jet; Mrs. Grant, black velvet; Mrs. Glasgow, blue eolienne and handsome old embroidered tissue; Miss Nancy James. Mrs. Richards and Mrs. Cardale won the highest bridge score. Mrs. Richards entertained the members of the Bridge Club at her home, Pembroke-road, on Friday evening. Those present were: Mesdames Richards, Grant. Stubbs, Chinchin, Rennell, Cardale, Budge, and Miss Nancy James. Summer Sports. The opening of the various lawns for tennis croquet, and bowls reminds us that summer is here, although the weather at times is anything but seasonable. The Bowling Club was opened with a very good attendance of members and visitors on Thursday. Mrs. the president’s wife, threw- the “Jack,” which signified that play had commenced. A delicious tea was prepared and served by the wives of the members. Personal. Mrs. Murray (Christchurch) is visiting Mrs. <'hinchin, Juliet-street. Mrs. Mclntosh (Wellington) is the guest of Mrs. Budge. “Runanga.” Mrs. Rowe (Hawera) has been spending the week-end with Airs. Hogg (Midhirst.) Mr. and Airs Chinchin left for Christchurch on Saturday to be present at the Raring Carnival. Air. J. R. S. Stanford was a passenger by the. mail train for Christchurch on Friday.
