NAPIER.

February 3. The Week. In the way of gaieties, small picnics and bathing parties are the most popular things just now. This week sees the end of the school holidays, and when once the children have returned to school much of the delightful freedom of the summer days is over. Party at Bishopscourt. The Bishop and Mrs. Averil gave a very enjoyable party last week; guessing competitions of all kinds caused much amusement, and there was some good music during the evening. Amongst those present were: Dr. and Mrs. Henley, Mrs. and Miss Ruddock. Mr. and Mrs. 'Levien, Mrs. George, the Misses Snodgrass, Lever, Coates, McCarthy, Dr. Harvey, Mr. Coates, Mr. McKay, and many others. Euchre Party. Mrs. Humphreys, Bluff Hill, gave a most successful progressive euchre party on Tuesday evening. It is some time since this game has been played In Napier, and everyone returned to it with renewed interest. The prises, which were really lovely, were won by Mr. and Mrs. Levien, Miss Hindrnarsh, Mies Curtis, and Mr. Allen.

PersonaL Mrs. Logan nas gone to Taupo for a few weeks. Mrs. Von Dadlezon has returned from the country, and is staying with Lady Whitmore. Mrs. Wilson (Christchurch) is visiting Mrs. Averil (Bishopscourt). Miss Jamieson (Glenross) is on a visit to Napier. Miss Fraser (Craven, Palmerston) has been visiting Mrs. Ormond, Tlntagel. Mrs. Davidson, Bluff Hill, has returned from England. Mrs. and Miss Busby (Tokomaru Bay) have been visiting Napier. Miss Valentine has returned from Melbourne. Miss Flora Navin (Hastings) is visiting Lady Whitmore. Miss E. Douglas has returned to Napier from Christchurch. Miss Morton (Auckland) is visiting Napier. Miss Dewes and Miss Gladys Hill have left for a month’s tour round the coast of New Zealand.
