Alarch 17. Croquet. The Nelson croquet players who journeyed to Blenheim last week to take part in the croquet tournament there, were rather badly beaten. Tho team •from Nelson consisted of the following: —Mesdames Harrison. Allen, Bunny. J. Sharp. Dodson. Aliss Richmond. Messrs. Harrison and Izard. Tennis. The Nelson Lawn Tennis Association held the annual championship tennis

matches on the Brook courts. Miss Ethel Ledger won the ladies’ championship. Miss F. Maginnity being the runner-up. The ladies’ championship doubles were won by Miss E. Ledger and Miss Alary Clarke. The men’s championship doubles were won by Air. F. Rowley and Air. T. Houlker. Among those present were:. Aliss Stevens, cream serge, brown straw, hat; Airs. B. Hayter (Timaru), navy striped costume, large black hat; Aliss E. Hayter (Timaru), lavender muslin. picture hat with lilacs; Aliss Leggatt. blue muslin, black hat; Aliss Tomlinson, white muslin: Aliss Huddleston, nattier blue silk, large black hat; Alisses Houlker. Cock, Wright, D. Bell, Maginnity, and Ledger. There were also present : Messrs. C. Green, Afacquarie, Clark, Bell, H. Cock, Robison, Booth, Johnston, (Cable Bay), Powley, Heron, Houlker, Walker, Duncan and Herd. College Ball. A large ball is to be held at Nelson College on Easter Monday in honour of the visiting football teams from Christchurch and Wanganui Personal. Canon Pollock and Aliss Pollock (England) have been staying at Bishopdale with the Bishop and Airs. Alules. Airs, and Aliss Hayter (Timaru) are the guests of Aliss Huddleston. Dr. and Airs. Andrew (Stoke) have gone to the Wairarapa. Air. J. W. Joynt (Wellington) is visiting friends in Nelson. Air. and Mrs. C. Y. Fell have gone to Rotorua. Airs. Hudson (Tapawera) has gone to the North Island. Mrs. Coster has returned from Christchurch. Aliss Tolraie has gone to Dunedin for some weeks. Dr. W. Stoney-Johnston, who is relieving Dr. Alackie at the Nelson Hospital, has arrived from England. Air. and Airs. Alenlovc (Marlborough)

are visiting Nelson.
