October 28. Summer Sports. The Nelson Croquet C-lub opened their Beason on Saturday. The cold and ahowery weather prevented many from (going. but the lawns looked very well. Mrs. Renwick, the club president, sent She first ball of the season through the hoop, and declared the greens open for play. A dainty afternoon tea was given by Airs. Renwick and Alias Airey (Cable Slay). Among others present were: Aire. fßenwiek, black silk, with long coat of black silk, black chip hat with long plumes: Mrs. Airey, Mr. and Airs. Harrison, Air. and Mrs. Goote, Airs. Dodson, Mrs. and Miss Sclanders, Alias Richmond, Miss Gibbs, Mrs. de Castro, Airs. Blundell, Mrs. Bunny, Miss Sutherland-Smith, Mrs. C. King. Gymnastics far Girls. A very successful gymnastic display was given by the Nelson College girls in the S shool of Music. Daring the evening musical items were also given by the Aliases Bamford and Miss P. Fell. In the audience I noticed Mrs. Alules. Aliss Mules, Mrs. Fell and AL.-s.-s Fell, Miss Greenwood, Airs, and Aliss Cock, Airs. Sc’anders, Aliases Atkinson, ALsses Alaginity. Aire. Nicholson, Miss Lorrimer, Miss Kirton, Alias Ledger. Bridge. Airs. Macquarie gave a delightful bridge party at her residence, "Glen Forsa.” Some of those present were: Airs. Dodson, Mrs. Bunny. Airs. Booth, Alisses Gi'kison, Alias Gibbs, Mrs. Heaps, Aliss Tolmie, Mrs. Haggitt (Dunedin), Airs. Harrison. Airs. Gibbs, Mrs. Allen, Alias Ledger. Aliss Riclunond. A Handkerchief Tea. An enjoyable "handkerchief tea” was given for Alias Muriel Webb by Airs. F. St. John. Some of the guests were: Aliases Webb, Miss Lightfoot, Misses Fell, Aliases ledger, Miss Leggatt, Misses Cock, Alias Clark, Mrs. R. Fell, Aliases Alagin(xity, Mias Bamford. Personal. Airs, and Aliss Sclanders have gone to New Plymouth. Mr. A. P. Burna has returned from Eydney.

Mrs. R. Fell is visiting friends in Christchurch.

Dr. Hudson (Tapawera) is in Wellington.

Alias J. Ledger has returned from her trip to Samoa. The Rev. E. K. Mules is staying at Bishopdale. Airs. B. C. Haggitt has returned to Dunedin. Airs, and Aliss Turton have left for Dunedin. Mrs. Arthur Ledger has gone back to Christchurch.
