November 12. We had beautiful weather for the King’s Birthday, and hardly a soul was to be seen in the streets all day. The military sports, which took place that day were a great suece-s, and had a very large attendance. Afternoon Tea. A very pleasant little afternoon tea was given on Monday last by Mrs. Blair in her pretty new home at Kaiti, the guest of honour being Mrs Frank Evans, of Masterton, Mrs. Blair’s sister-in-law, who has been staying at “Bu,"hmere.” The hostess received her guests in a costume of soft grey check material, with vest and sleeves of tucked ecru net; Mrs. Frank Evans wore white muslin trimmed with insertions, very wide embroidered Anglaise; Mrs. MacLean, brown linen coat and skirt, brown hat to match; Mrs. Black, black costume, small blaek hat; Mrs. F. Parker, pale pink linen coat and skirt, hat of Tuscan straw with bows of black velvet ribbon; Mrs. Willock, grey tailor-made costume, small blaek hat with bunches of dull red rosebuds; Mrs. A. Rees, blue floral muslin, black hat; Mrs. Smith, white muslin, rose pink hat trimmed with tulle, etc; Mrs. W. Sherratt, Empire dress of blue and white striped silk, burnt straw hat with bows of blue velvet ribbon; Mrs. A. Seymour, blue striped coat and skirt, large rose pink floral hat; Mrs. Stevenson, tailor-made costume of dark green doth, white Leghorn hat with trimmings of black velvet; Mrs. C. Sherriff, black costume and black‘hat; Miss Evans, white muslin; Mi.-js Gordon (Opotiki), heliotrope gingham, white lingerie hat; the Misses Barker (2), white muslin and floral hats; Miss Schumacher, pale pink lustre ccat and skirt, violet hat; the Misses White (2), white muslin frocks; Miss Tucker, fawn cloth costume; Miss Black, white linen, green hat trimmed with green wings, etc.; Miss Bradley, white muslin and violet hat; Miss MacLean, and Miss M. Sherratt. Personal. Mrs. Reynold's, Hawke’s Bay, is on a v.'; it to Mrs. Hine. Mr. and Mrs. F. Evans, Masterton, who have been visiting Mrs. Evans, ‘"Bushmere,” returned home on Wednesday last.
