HASTINGS.
October 14. Napier Park Races. The Napier Park races were held yesterday and to-day, and as the weather was delightfully warm, many ladies graced the lawn. Among those present from Hastings I noticed: Lady Price, wearing a handsome cream cloth Directoire, cream laee trimmings, large hat with pink roses; Mrs. T. J. Lowry, black and white striped silk voile, largo
blaek hat; Mrs. J. Ormond, rose pink gown, large floral hat; Mrs. Rathbone (Waipawa), cream drees, black hat; Mrs. Dr. Tosswill, black and white striped voile, black plumed hat; Mrs. H. Russel, navy blue costume, black hat; Miss Nairn, blue linen costume, hat of brown straw, black trimmings; Mrs. Reid, brown costume, saxe blue trimmings, brown hat, swathed with sajfe blue silk; Mrs. Luckie, champagne voile coat and skirt, black hat; Miss Luckie, brown Empire gown, Oriental embroidery trimmings, pretty black plumed hat; Mrs. Stratton, rose pink linen costume, large black hat relieved with rose pink; Miss Newbigen, pretty muslin embroidered Empire gown, large hat wreathed with pink roses; Miss Austin, navy costume, braided with black, large black hat. Personal. Mrs. Burns left for Dunedin last Friday. Mrs. Frank Cameron has gone to Masterton .for a holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Cummings left on Tuesday for Invercargill. Miss Cuthbert is staying with Mrs. George Beamish at “Whana-Whana.” Sir Francis and Lady Price are residing at “Flaxmere” with Sir William and Lady Russell. We are sorry to hear of the death of Rev. Canon Thompson (London), brother of Mrs. Arthur Wellwood (Havelock) . Mr. Chirtis has returned from the south. Mrs. Newbigen has returned from Wellington. Mrs. Dr. Maedonell has returned from Wellington. Mrs. St. John is visiting Auckland. Her children are staying in Hastings. Mr. Munroe (West Coast) is visiting his daughter, Mrs. Maedonell. Mrs. Murray has gone to visit her mother in Gisborne.
