August 13. The Bridge Club. The Bridge dub met at Mrs. H. Waldegrave’s, Park-road, on last Thursday night for their weekly game. Those playing were Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Waldegrave, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Waldegrave, Mrs. and Miss Coombs, Mrs. Tripe, Mrs. Bell, Mr. E. Bell, Mrs. Morrah, Mr. Armstrong, and Mr. Tyreman. Mrs. H. Waldegrave wore a black accordeon-pleated silk toilette, cream lace finishing corsage; Mrs. C. Waldegrave, black spotted silk muslin over white silk; Mrs. Bell, black silk, with black sequin insertion; Mrs. Morrah, cream silk and lace; Mrs. Coombs, black silk with lace and silk fringe. Attractive Street Toilettes. A few attractive street toilettes I have noticed lately were: —Mrs. C. Louisson, wearing a navy blue Dircctoire costume, touch of cerise velvet on bodice, fawn felt hat with wings of same colour; Mrs. W. Keeling, brown coat and skirt, white fox fur and muff, brown hat with brown wings; Mrs. D. O. Shute, navy coat and skirt, stone marten furs, hat with rose-pink flowers; Mrs. Eliot, brown striped tweed costume, brown velvet coat with sable collar, brown hat with green wings; Mrs. Wallace, green striped tweed coat and skirt, large black plumed hat lined with pink; Miss Gemmel, cream serge coat and skirt, braided in cream, mole-coloured hat with scarlet wings; Miss L. Gemmel, saxe blue cloth coat and skirt, hat in same shade with white wings; Mrs. D. Reed, cream cloth coat and skirt, black plumed hat; Mrs. G. Thomas, pale mauve cloth costume, hat of deeper shade with wings; Miss Roskruge, peacock-blue cloth coat and skirt, hat with wreath of blue roses; Mrs. Tripe, light grey coat and skirt, navy hat with saxe blue silk and wings; Miss D. Reed, navy coat and skirt, deep mauve hat, with roses of paler shade. Golf. The ladies’ medal competition, played on Tuesday afternoon, resulted in a win for Mrs. L. Seifert, Mrs. Russell second, and Mrs, A. Seifert third. Other competitors were: Miss S. Abraham, Miss Wylds, Miss Monro, Mrs. Warburton, Miss O’Brien, Mrs. Sim, Mrs. L. A. Abraham, Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Porritt. Of the juniors, Miss Gillett came first, Mrs. Watson second, and Mrs. Tripe third. Entries for the ladies’ New Zealand championship closed with Mrs. Mells op, hon. secretary, on the 11th inst. Personal. Miss I. Russell is staying with friends in Christchurch. Mr. R. 8. Abraham, who has been on a trip to England, is on his way ■back again. Mrs. and Miss E. McLennan have returned from Wellington. Mr. Percy Baldwin has gone to Christchurch for the Grand National meeting. Mrs. R. K. Reed has returned from a, week’s stay in Wellington.
