Robinson, Miss Smith, Messrs. Thompson, Harden, W. L. Fitzherbert, Connell, Waldegrave, Caw, Smith, Reed, Hockley, and others. A concert party visited THE HOSPITAL last Wednesday night, and gave an entertainment which was much enjoyed by the patients and the staff. Mrs. Wallace, Miss Batchelor, Miss Nannestad, Miss V. Mowlem, and Messrs. Hockley, McLeod, Scott, Batchelor, Girdlestone, and Russell contributed items. Several Ladies assembled at the station on Monday to bid GOOD-BYE TO MRS. AND THE MISSES FITZHERBERT, prior to their leaving for New Plymouth. Some months ago Mr. Fitzherbert, who practised he-re as a solicitor for eighteen years, was appointed stipendiary magistrate at New Plymouth, and Mrs. Fitzherbert, who recently sold her house at Hokowhitu, has now gone to join her husband. Last week, a few of Mrs Fitzherbert’s intimate friends presented her with a pretty gold brooch as a farewell gift, and Miss Fitzherbert’s girl friends gave her a silver-backed hand-mirror. Mr. Pat. Fitzherbert, third son of Mr. and Mrs. Fitzherbert, was married on Wednesday, the 20th inst., to Miss E. Fookes, of New Plymouth, the Misses Loris and Sybil Fitzherbert, sisters of the bridegroom, being two of the bridesmaids. Another wedding of interest to Palmerston North took place on Wednesday in Wellington, when Miss Dorothy Powell, niece of Mrs J. L. Barnicoat, Union Bank, Palmerston North, and of Mrs. R. M. McKnight, Palmerston .North, was married to the Rev. G. Y. Woodward, vicar of All Saints’ Church, Foxton, and formerly one of the curates at All Saints’, Palmerston North. MADAM LOMAN AND HER CONCERT COMPANY gave two concerts at the Opera House on Monday and Tuesday of last week. On the first riight Madame Roman wore an Empire toilette of pink satin, and on the last night a becoming sagegreen toilette. Amongst the audience were: Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Abraham, Miss Sybil Abraham, Mr. and Mrs. Park, the Misses Park, Mrs. (Dr.) Martin. Dr. and the Misses O’Brien, Mr. and Mrs. P. McHardy, Miss McLennan. Miss Dougherty, Misses Flaser and girls from Craven College, Miss Hildred, the Misses Watson, Mrs. 1). B. Harris. Mr. and Mrs. Jewell. Mr. F. O. B. Loughnan, Dr. Stowe, Mr Harman, Mrs and the Misses Buchanan. Sirs. R. S. Abraham and the Misses Abraham. Mrs. fnder. Alexandra-street, gave A SMALL TENNIS PARTY on Wednesday afternoon. The day was beautifully fine, and the games ‘much enjoyed. Mrs. Inder wore a black voile skirt trimmed with rich black lace insertion, white tucked silk blouse; Miss Inder, white muslin and lace frock; Miss James (Cambridge), pink floral muslin, the skirt made with large tucks, pink hat with white roses; Miss Costa (Nelson), white silk dress much irimmed

with lace and insertion, white embroidered hat; Miss Tatton, white embroidered muslin, cream hat with pink roses; Miss Park, cream Eton coat and skirt, cream hat with chiffon and flowers; Miss F. Park, cream coat and skirt, nil green hat with green tulle and white flowers; Miss Stace, tussore silk frock, cream hat; Miss Hill (Feilding), blue embroidered linen frock, white hat with pale blue silk bows; Messrs. Inder (3), Murray, Barnard, Clark, Bird, Hill, Leary, Girdlestone, Park, ajid others.
