Dear Bee, May 23 On Friday, 22nd, the ANNUAL TENNIS DANCE of the Otago Lawn Tennis Club, was held at St. Paul’s schoolroom. The hall and stage were most beautifully decorated with greenery, racquets, flags, etc. From the roof were suspended innumerable Japanese umbrellas and flags, which had an extremely pretty effect. The supper-table was most artistically arranged. High vases with yellow and terracotta chrysanthemums were placed alternately with silver candlesticks shaded with yellow and terracotta shades, and large lamps of a yellow shade, placed in the centre of the table, completed the decorations All the Committee, both ladies and gentlemen, wore yellow and red ribbon badges, the colours of the Ciub. The music was excellent, and the floor all that could be desired. Messrs Finch. Hallenstein, Mitchell, Branson. Hannon. Hughes. F. Hughes, Gully, Cutten. Haggitt. D. Haggitt, E. Haggitt, Wright, Menlove, Taple, Monkman, Reid, (Oamaru), Blacklock. Sleigh. Chaffy. Cook, Greig, Harris, Gibson, Sise, Payne, Brees, Richardson, and a great many strangers were present.

The same evening Mrs Jas. Allen (Arawa) gave a juvenile dance for Miss Ina Master. Mrs Allen received her young Suests attired in blue silk covered with beautiful black lace; Irs Richardson, handsome black silk: Miss Ina Allen, pale pink merveilleux. Some I remember present were Misses Sale, R. Neill, Shand, A. Shand. Denniston. Williams, G. Williams, C. Williams. M. Turton. E. Beil. L. Sise. Neill, F. Butterworth. Salmon. L. Ramsay, A. Roberts, D. Bartieman. V. Simpson, T. Neill, D. Bathgate. Messrs Ormsby (Timaru). Parker, Sale, J. Sale, Ulrich. F. Ulrich, D. Ulrich. Shand, Neill. B. Macassey, D. Neill, R. Denniston, Rattray, Haggitt, L. Haggitt, and many others. t On Tuesday. 19th. Mrs Boot (Royal Terrace! gave a large ‘ At Home ’ in honour of her eldest daughter, who is to be married shortly to Mr Gresham (Invercargill).
